Get ready for the first Cars Collector Day 2008 at K-Mart! What is Cars Collector Day you ask? Well, the whole point of this post is to tell you.
On Saturday, October 18th, 2008 at 11:00 AM, K-Mart is hosting a Cars Collector Day. This will be your first chance to buy 7 Cars, Edwin Kranks, Fred (re-scaled, no stickers), Shiny Wax, Sputter Stop, Transberry Juice, View Zeen and SpareMint. These are not exclusives and they’ll be available elsewhere after.
Over 2,300 stores are participating. Take 5 a Day has posted a list of stores here. You may want to call first and check the time in case it varies. Here is a picture of the flyer.

Today turned out to be a fantastic day! My daughter went checking in St. Augustine after I called her to tell her about my #8. She was going to WM to check on the 4 way but stopped at K-mart first. She found a Dale Jr. in one of the check-out aisle package that have been in K-marts since summer. I was at this K-mart late in the day of October 18th and again in the month of November. The car had to show up within the past few weeks or days. She called to make sure it was real because we had never shown her the small packaging. (The grandson has to open them as soon as we leave the store when were at his house.) So two Dale Jr. in one day, someone is watching out for me!
My K Mart car event went well. I was able to get all 5 racers as well as Edwin Kranks, Stickers Fred (Chase Car) resized Fred. Eight new cars!
The event was well run. Numbers were given to eager collectors and drawn from bucket. The number called went up to a newly open case and had 5 min to get five cars. When new cases were ran out two cases were placed in front of the collector to go through.
I think there were 29 collectors showed up for the event. There were plenty of cars to go around. After it was over we could get what ever cars we wanted. There were plenty, even Stickers Fred and Edwin Kranks.
The pegs at my local store have plenty hanging on pegs for those that didn’t make it to the event.
Bravo to my local K Mart. They did a wonderful job.
I even got the new minis.
