I just received Cars Mega Size Dustin Mellows. I must say that it is great! Sculpt and paint are both fantastic. This is an example on how fine a job Mattel is doing for a Car that was only briefly in the movie.
However, I was disappointed by one thing. Dustin Mellows is mostly plastic. Yes, the only part that is diecast is the cab of the truck, as far as I could tell.
The back of the truck as well as the base and wheels are all plastic. I understand there are issues like cost and things like that, but consider that Mattel made a second all metal Barney Stormin’ in the Mega Size line and a new all metal Mack in the Mega Size line. Why couldn’t they make Dustin Mellows all metal?
Anyway, Dustin Mellows was rated one of the Top 10 Cars of 2008 by the readers and myself. If you haven’t found one yet, you can find Dustin Mellows on eBay.
It stands for Trophy Sparkplugs, the company that Dustin Mellows delivered for apparently. That’s their logo on the side.
What does TS stand ? It is written on the side of Dustin.
Just returned from shopping the marts and t’s in Albany, GA. Both TRU and Target had Dustin Mellows; 6.99 TRU, 5.99 Target. Target also had Impound DJ plus I picked up the case’s Greta for the grandson. Both had new mini assortments (6 each gift packs). TRU also has the individual haulers now at 13.99. Wal-mart still had the haulers in stock plus 10 of the night visions; looks like I’m the only affected person in town.
My son found a Dustin in Columbus, GA earlier this week at Wal-mart.
