Mattel has issued a post Toy Fair press release. Although not much new Cars product was shown at Toy Fair this year, Mattel’s press release covers a few interesting things for diecast Cars.
Cars Character Cars with Lenticular Eyes
These are regular diecast Cars, except they have lenticular eyes, which are eyes that move! The first series is made up of 13 Cars. Retail for each Car is $3.99, and they are available in June 2009. Here is the info.
The character cars with lenticular eyes bring the favorite CARS characters to life like never before! These 1:55 scale die-cast cars are big on personality and detail. There are 13 CARS characters with Lenticular Eyes, including favorites Lightning McQueen, Sally, Mater and Doc Hudson. Each car also includes a ticket with a special code that can be used to unlock cool stuff on WorldofCars.com.
Two new playsets also look pretty cool, the Mack Track Challenge and Piston Cup Starter Set.
Cars Mack Track Challenge
Cars Mack Track Challenge retails for $48.99 and is also due out in June 2009. Here is the info and a photo.
With the new motorized CARS Mack Track Challenge, kids start up the action with the power booster that sets Lightning McQueen into high speed. They can make lane changes by pushing and holding the button to make Lightning McQueen take an in-field route, but watch out for Mack drifting on the track! If Lightning McQueen can zoom up Mack’s loading ramp, he will launch right out of the top and onto the inner lane to take the lead! Playset includes a Lightning McQueen vehicle.

Cars Piston Cup Starter Set
The Piston Cup Starter Set lets you recreate the excitement of the final race from the movie! It retails for $34.99. Can you guess when it is available? That’s right, June 2009! Here is the description.
Kids can recreate the excitement of the final race from the movie with the Cars Piston Cup Starter Set. Shift into fun mode with the cool set that folds out to reveal a racing track complete with the winner’s circle. With a motorized booster, kids can make Lightning McQueen race on the loop, just like in the movie!
My guess is these dates may not be that accurate, so look for these items sometime this summer.
