Greetings Cars Collectors! I decided it was long overdue for some introductions. For almost 2 years, I have brought you Cars diecast news, but I’ve never really talked about myself at all. I’ve decided its time you knew a little bit about me.
My name is Jonathan, and I live and work in Knoxville, TN. I am married, and will be celebrating my 4th wedding anniversary this year. I am proud to say I recently became a father to an almost 3 month old little girl. If I have been posting less on this blog, that is probably why!
I am a collector of many things in addition to Cars. Some of them are Star Wars, GI Joe, Masters of the Universe, Superman, Simpsons and Marvel Legends. I am a fan of movies, especially Pixar. I read comic books occasionally. I also enjoy building web sites, as you can imagine.
I will answer any other questions you have in the comments. I also hope to get to know each of you more. I would appreciate it if you would take the time to tell me a little about yourself as well. Thanks. I appreciate your support, and I hope to keep this site going for years to come.
Hi Everyone! My name is Sarah and I am an avid Cars collector. I have a 5 yr old son who first became interested and as he got cars, I realized that I would like to put together a collection of them (in boxes) for when he is grown up. Ok, I might just keep them for myself now!
We counted and inventoried my Cars today and I have 153 of them. I am hoping to get one of each for my collection. My son already has 83 and we also keep a stash for incentives. Thanks for the site and happy hunting!
Hi I’m Cyndy and I have been collecting for the last 3 years of all the cars I can find. I have been married 30 years, raising 2 grandchildren ~ Jayden 4 and Janaya 18 months. I cannot even begin to count or add up all the cars we have. I collect two sets of everything. One to put out and one to stay sealed and packed up. Both grandkids think they need everything also. My favorite is Luigi. If there really is a favorite. Love them all. It was nice hearing about you and everyone else of us “CARS” fanatics. Thanks for your hard work and time with the blog. It is truly appreciated.
Hey Jonathan,
Love the site! We (my wife and I of 8 years) have a 3 year old son who is addicted to everything Cars (sleeps in a McQueen bed, drives a McQueen Powerwheels, has over 200 diecast cars, etc.). We also have a 6 month old baby girl who likes to try to eat our son’s cars whenever we look away for a few seconds.
When we were at Disneyworld last month in line to see Mater and Lightning, a worker there told us that Cars 2 is now set to be released STRAIGHT TO VIDEO in 2010. While it’s nice that we don’t have to wait as long, it sure does stink that it won’t be seen in the theaters. I know Disney has a history of doing that with sequels, but I was hoping they’d make an exception here.
Thanks for the great site!
- Will
As far as I know, Cars 2 will be released in theaters. Disney might do straight to DVD features, but Pixar does not. It’s also scheduled to be released in the summer of 2011 not 2010. So I believe you were talking to someone who didn’t know what they were talking about!
All of the Cars 2 info is here, and this page is updated with new info as it comes available.

I hope you’re right, and you very well could be!
Disney does not offer anymore Sequals straight to DVD. They offered this info up in the stock holder review last year.
Hi Jonathan – thanks for the background, we love your site
I’m Holly, from North Canton, OH – I have a son, Nolan – who is four years old. We began collecting when he received a diecast McQueen in late 2006. Since then the hubby and I are obsessed. At any given point we have a hidden stash of new release Cars, just waiting for a reason to give them to our son (they make perfect incentives)!
We have most of the cars to date, and a few duplicates. Several of ours show a lot of love and wear but bring much delight to our home
We absolutely cannot wait for Cars 2!
Holly,
We do the stash of incentive Cars too. It makes for a fun and relatively inexpensive way to keep our 5 yr old motivated!
Nice to “meet” you. I’m Danielle. I’m 31yo and live in South Carolina. I have 4 yo twin boys. I am addicted to Cars but was late to join the bandwagon since I didn’t see the movie until late 2006. My Cars aren’t in collection condition since we play with them. My most resent purchases are the Leakless Semi and Chick’s Semi. I love this site and check it everyday. Cars is the only thing I “collect”, but my boys usually have me looking for obsure things like Zurg and Monsters inc toys.
Keep up the awsome work!

THE END
Hi.
It is good to hear from the man behind the website. I always appreciate the inside scoop that you give. I am writing to you from New York. I have been collecting cars since I have been born and have no plans of stopping anytime soon. I have a son but he is not a big cars fan, he is more into Star Wars, Pokemon and the like. I do sell cars and other die-cast at toy/train shows and I get to see lots of great things there. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Bill
Hey Jonathan,
thanks for sharing your info with us. My name is Jeff and I live in Akron, Ohio. I actually spent five years in Knoxville from ’82-87 and went to Farragut Middle and High School before moving to Ohio where I finished school in ’89. I as well am married, with 2 sons. the firstborn is 3 1/2(he’s my excuse for buying Cars) and he’s a big fan of Cars. My second born just arrived on 3/25/09. So we’re changing diapers just like you! I greatly appreciate the info you share on the site as it helps me guage when new models will be in my local stores. I usually buy two of each model(one for the 3 year old and one to put in the collection, still in it’s packaging). I’ve recently found that toy/train shows have alot of dealers selling Cars models as well. These dealers usually have the actual race cars in individual packages, something I haven’t seen in the retail stores. And it’s the dealers at these shows that often have hard to find stuff for sale at negotiable prices, cars like TJ Hummer and Kori Turbowitz. Anyways, I could go on for a while about my experiences so far( I’ve only been collecting since January ’08) but I’ll cut it off for now by saying “Thanks” for what you’re doing!
