Coming this holiday season are 3 new Piston Cup Racer 4 packs. These will not be exclusive. Notice that McQueen is included in all 3. They’re not super exciting as most are re-releases, but it may be a chance for some to complete their collection.
The theory is that the Piston Cup Racers only appeal to collectors and not children who are only interested in the characters who have significant roles in the movie. That’s why the Piston Cup Racers are more likely to be included in box sets, 3 packs, 4 packs and exclusive sets.
That way they don’t waste case space with these Cars. Plus it gives those who don’t nornally collect the chance to get many at once. Here is the complete list of Piston Cup 4 packs.

I agree with lobot72 when it comes to the choices that are made as to which characters are being put into these sets. If they are truely geared more toward the collectors in the Cars community, then they really should consider putting in the last few remaining racers that haven’t been released yet outside of the Speedway of the South set. I would love to see them make a set with Tach-o-mint, Apple car, Gask-it’s and Sidewall Shine. The last one has been released as a TRU exclusive, but we haven’t seen the first three yet.
Its good that most of these sets have at least 2 cars that were exclusives in them, but since the main target group for these are collectors I would think that putting Lightning McQueen in everyone of them is kind of pointless. I would much rather have 1 new car and 3 former Speedway of the South exclusive cars. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m really tired of Lightning McQueen being put in every set, they could at least put Tongue McQueen in one of these.
The racer I want is Transberry juice. Is he comming out non exclusivley soon. I hope he is. He costs too much on ebay and there are no kmarts close to me. I really want him.
The price of Cars toys on ebay has come down quite a bit. The first set of K-Mart collector days Cars that came out was getting $20 to $30 per car, but I have seen this current set go for less than $10 per car. I don’t know if its the economy or if this toy line is losing steam, but Cars don’t command the prices they once did on ebay.
