Here’s the scene from the movie.
And here are the toys.
I wasn’t aware, but it appears this is a Toys R Us exclusive. Here is the list of characters: TJ, Murphy, Charlie Cargo, Frank Pinkerton and Sarge. TJ is much bigger than the previous Walmart exclusive version. Compare him with Sarge to get an idea of scale.
So be on the lookout for these at Toys R Us. You can find some already on eBay here.

I too found several of these at my Toys R Us, and passed them up – I just was not impressed for the price. I guess as I get older, and my son gets older, I’m not as gullible to buy these at first site – and I’m wiser to the packaging gimmicks, hoping some day these are available in another size / packaging format.
Holly I am with you here. We left them in the store and saved $30.
I saw these yesterday (10/16/2009) at Toys-R-Us, went in with every intention of buying – nearly fainted at the price (in reviving me, Papa Tom commented on the ugly boxiness of the middle three, with which I could only agree.) Our only grandson, The Mighty Casey, will have the Sarge, which I found separately at Target – and hopefully the obviously Mega-sized TJ as a separate one day – but the others, like the googly eyes, don’t interest us. The Boy is an avid collector – and at 6 years old can name all of his cars (all of which are played with and loved), and he has most of them. The best part is that this collection is a special connection between this child and his Nana!!
$30! Are you kidding me? Are they all considered “Mega Size”?
They are all big enough to be mega size except for Sarge. They are not labeled that way, but its priced that way. The fact that its an exclusive adds to the price as well as its a smaller run.
I finally saw this set at Toys R Us. I see that they are in fact bigger than the standard packaged cars, which I guess qualifies them as “Mega Sized.” Since the Mega Sized Cars came out, I’ve thought that the $7 or $8 they charge for a car only slightly bigger than standard is too much. Also, It has always been my understanding that the point of packaging items together in a set is too add value to both the manufacturer and the consumer. The consumer has been forgotten here. I know there are many collectors, but there are also many children who actually open these things and play with them; my son is one of them. I was tempted, because I know he would like this set, but I’m not doing it. Given that there are only three new cars in this set, a fair price would be in the $15 to $20 range. I doubt I’ll ever see it for that price, so I guess we’ll go without this one.
are these cars made out of plastic?
Pete these cars look like they are die cast, but a bigger version. They are not small like the rest. Our Toys R Us here in Colorado Springs, CO has lots of them.
No they are mostly diecast.
Found it in Toledo, OH Friday night 10/9/09. Not that impressed, I am, but my 3 yr. old will like it just the same.
I live in Colorado Springs CO but all my family and best friends live in Toledo Ohio. My Grandma lives in Temperance MI. That is pretty cool.

Still not in Toledo, OH yet. 10/5/09
I found them at a TRU in Akron, Ohio tonite. And I am disappointed in this set. First off, the price is ridiculous. The cashier explained that b/c of the Toys R Us label on the box, the price goes up. Big whoop.. Next, the quality of the material looks cheap. Also, what’s with all the different sizes of vehicles? It looks like somebody took a Happy Meal prize and combined it with some trucks from the dollar store!! Lastly, who drives a ‘tough guy’ truck with mag wheels and girlie colored paint jobs? I know it’s supposed to match the scene from the movie but make it more real in scale and reasonable in price.
I saw them in Akron also and they were $30 at TRU. The price is too much for me to buy this set.
I saw these the other day at a Toys R Us in Milwaukee, and I have to say that they are not as cool as I thought they would be. TJ is decent however the other SUVs look real cheap, but I guess they are accurate compared to the movie.
I agree. I really had to talk myself into putting out the 30.00 bucks for this one.
I’ve wondered when this would come out. I thought it would have been good to put these characters in “off road” type of playset. I wonder if they’ll follow the Minis line and offer versions of other cars as part of “Sarge’s Boot Camp.”
Here’s a MINI Sarge’s Boot Camp box set that was on Ebay, from a seller who always seems to have things available before their retail release……hmmmmmmm. A little “hot” to the touch, if you know what I mean?
