It's probably because Hotwheels are only $1, so a lot of parents buy them so their kid isn't screaming for a toy while they are shopping.

What is weird is that the Hot Wheels pegs are almost always chock full...but they never restock the PIXAR Cars pegs.

Mattel treats all thier toy lines the same way, just ask any Hotwheel collector, Disney should have told Mattel not to treat their "Cars" line in the same manner as Hotwheels, not to constantly repaint the same car or repackage it 20 different ways, then again Disney probably didn't care as long as the dollars keep rolling in.

...my enthusiasm for this line dies a little more each day.

If I was 6, monster trucks might be cool. But for me, I just want to complete my SOTS racers and finish the Final Laps.

One has to wonder why there are not more vehicles in regards to Tokyo Mater. Or for that matter...what happened to El Materdor? I know there were alot excited to see those bulldozers being on the same size and detail level as Frank.

As it sounds like Cars 2 will be entirely lenticular...I'm figuring 2010 will be my final 'model year' for this series. When a toy company treats their toy line by never listening to those who are putting down the money, well, y'know.

Mattel is all over the map with this product line. Which is no surprise because since Day 1, there has been no balance and even distribution to their product releases. This is another disappointing attempt to relieve customers of their money... Lenticulars should have never been released.... And as for these Car Toons products, why would I buy into this stuff? I only saw one of the shorts when they first came out in a preview before a movie at a movie theater. There has never been enough info about where/when these cartoons are being broadcast. Regardless, I am looking forward to the release of Cars 2, and looking forward to getting back to the original concept of buying characters from the movie.

these tall tales are getting silly now. The first 4 shorts were great, ending with Tokyo Mater. Now Monster Mater? Lightning McMean? come on and just finish the main line! Stick with fixed eyes or make the lenticulars better so there are not 4 eyes when they move. Some of the lenticulars are great and others are terrible

It sounds like there will be some. The $19.99 Lightning McMean is a "larger scale" so no on that one. The Monster Truck Assortment mentions specifically that it is a larger scale, 1:43, and it is meant for younger kids. The playset above mentions that it is "made to accommodate the oversized 1:55 scale CARS Monster Trucks" so it sounds like yes, there will be a mega size line.
