I mentioned this in my last post, but Final Lap Cars have not been getting wide distribution. That may be changing however. Hot on the heels of case D, case E is now showing up at Targets. Part of the reason may be that case E has 4 new Cars, instead of the usual 3.

New Cars in Final Lap case E are Jay Limo, Vern the Taxi, Race Damaged Mood Springs and Wet Lightning McQueen. You may be confused as to the difference between Wet McQueen and Doused Soaked McQueen. It’s pretty simple actually. Soaked McQueen is from Rescue Squad Mater and is slightly crispy compared to Wet McQueen which is from the Cars movie.
Mattel is definitely scraping the bottom of the barrel for Cars characters here. It’s a testament to how well they have done with the line though. It’s also why they are pumping out the Cars Toons Cars this year. Although the new Cars Toons Cars have been scarce as well. More on those this week also.
Race Damaged Mood Springs is hard to find, I only find jay limo,vern, and wet McQueen at Target last week.
I went to Target (Hanover, MA) yesterday and scanned a Final Lap car. I couldn.t believe it when the scanner said “YES IN STOCKROOM”. This was a first.
I found a guy and he went out back and found the case of Final Lap Cars. I was hoping that it would be CASE F. But no, it was another CASE E.
So if you are in the Hanover, MA area and need Final Lap CASE E Cars get over there quick.
I was in TRU today, and “what to my wondering eyes did appear” but two new 4-packs of Mater the Greater Toon characters. The first contained Lug and Nutty (yet again,) Rocket McQueen and Buck the Tooth Seller. The second contained Lug (oh, yes, yet again,) Rocket Mater and Mater Fans Mia and Tia. That Lug and Nutty do get around! And finally, one of the area Targets had one Sidewall Shine Hauler which I pounced on with glee. The Boy is visiting next week – we will have a good CARS time, that’s for sure!!
Can anyone tell me if the 4 pack Rocket McQueen is different from the single pack. I haven’t seen both together but the mouths might be different.
The single pack Daredevil McQueen does not have the buck teeth. At least one of the 4 packs Daredevil McQueen has the buck teeth, but I’m not sure if they all do.
Just last week I found Final Lap Series “Jamie” and “Johnny” in northern Indiana…haven’t seen these anywhere before, nor listed. Any others that haven’t been mentioned we should know about?
There is also a Lightning McQueen with a cone on his front hood. These are from Final Lap case F. Case F has been out for about 2 weeks now. I have not seen it yet in the Northeast, but they must be on their way.
I too found these at Target in St Louis. I also found Mario Andretti and Chuki.
Can someone tell me where Vern appears in the movie/shorts?

In the last race that decides the winner for the Piston Cup, as they are showing all the cars entering the speedway through the main entrance, you catch a very quick glimpse of Vern.

I found another Final Lap Case E at Target (Hanover, MA)today. I couldn’t resist, so I bought another Damaged Mood Springs and a Wet McQueen. I left the Jay Limo and Vern.
Today I also found the new Chase Van with Stickers. (but there are no stickers) This case also has Chuki and Mario (red wheels). Fianl Lap Case F and new haulers should be here soon.
Finally found Vern and Jay Limo in a northern Gulf Coast Target – better late than never, I gueess.
Went to Target on Monday at opening paused to check out Easter Clearance for 10 seconds and headed back to MY Car’s aisle. Then I saw her. An adult 50ish looking at MY Cars. Then he walked up, 2 of them in MY aisle. Out of towners from Ohio, ebay merchants! He was visiting his Mother in Leary, Georgia (population 500) 20 miles west of Albany. We talked but I was uneasy with the strangers in town, So this morning I got to Target at 7:55am and sure enough they were there. We walked together to MY aisle and she spotted Mood Springs first (3 of them) she let me have 1 and she took 1 then she let me have the 2nd for the grandson. It turns out strangers aren’t bad. But I’m still glad their heading home tomorrow. I’ve become spoiled being the only crazy person in Albany. By the way their market is mainly international for about $9.00 a vehicle.
Found Jay Limo and Vern in Akron, Ohio last week.
Also saw the Axel Accelerator (Highway Patrol) in the Easter Egg at Target yesterday – although I had never seen it when it originally came out, I declined to pay an additional $3+ for the plastic egg. Of course, we do have the Toons Rescue Highway Patrol car – again, just a repaint of the original Axel, I think.
I found the stupid lenticular versions of Jay Limo and Vern today. Are these going to be out in non-lenticular versions? Thanks.
Yes. They are part of the Final Lap series available only at Target stores. I have those cars along with Race Damaged Mood Springs and Wet Lightning McQueen. I also found the lenticular versions of Vern the Taxi and Costanzo Della Corsa today. I did not know that these cars were going to be released with the lenticular eyes when they were already part of the Final Lap series.
Saw Soaked McQueen at a Wal-Mart today – it is marketed in the Toons line. Just another version of Lightning with minor changes (water spots,) like the ridiculous Tar McQueen with 3 or 4 spots of black on it. Come on!!
I now have Casa de la Tires, Ramone’s House of Paint, and Lizzie’s Curio Shop. Does anybody know if they plan to put out Filmore’s House and Sarge’s House of Surplus? Or how about Doc Hudson’s place or the Courthouse? I know there is a Flo’s V-8 Cafe’ which I intend to get soon…
far as i know all the play sets are discontinued though you can pick them up for sale on ebay. i have heard of no plans for any additional radiator springs play sets other than the color changing line for ramones.
I saw more of the previous wave this week – Stickers, etc. – but still none of the Leno wave.
No signs of these in Ohio yet, but Jay Limo looks really neat ha ha.
Today I found Toons Buck the Tooth Seller as a single at Wal-Mart. They also had the stunt plane, High Dive Mater, Cannonball Mater and Daredevil McQueen as singles. Has Buck replaced Brian Souvenir Seller? Do you think we will ever see Mater the Greater Fans Mia and Tia or Rocket Mater as singles or in a foursome? (When I buy Toons singles, I always tape the receipt to them – then if I find a foursome that has some I don’t have in it, I purchase it and return the single or singles. Works for me.) I still have not been able to find Richard Clayton Kensington Security Van Mega or Sidewall Shine Hauler or the Mater Cousins at TRS, Wal-Mart or Target.
There is a four pack scheduled with Mater fans Mia and Tia, Lug and Rocket Mater. I think we will see Rocket Mater as a single at some point but who knows.
Buck has not replaced Brian. Brian should still be released. One is in the regular line and one is in the Cars Toons line.

Flea and Flik were issued internationally (Europe & Canada)in the Super-charged series first. Then they were issued in the World of Cars series in the US. The movie doubles have pretty much disappeared since they became Target exclusives.

well i just picked up a jay limo and i saw vern (no idea where he’s from in the series) but i didn’t see the damaged nor wet cars.
Love the Race Damaged Mood Springs–Hope I can find one.
BTW, for anyone who couldn’t find Axel Accelerator, he’s now available in an egg in the Easter section at Target.

Found these cars first thing this morning although I have not been able to locate any of the cars from the previous case. I would also like some additional information regarding the change in distribution too. I hope that these new cars will be available at other retail outlets soon. Target is way too slow getting these cars out to the stores.
