Where are El Materdor Cars?

Did you know that El Materdor is the only Cars short that does not have single carded diecast released yet? Strange that it is one of the first 3 to air and that the Cars Toon shorts that have recently aired already have diecast released. Even stranger that we first saw prototypes over a year ago at Comic Con in 2009. Here is the gallery to refresh your memory.

I have seen a carded El Materdor recently on eBay, but I don’t think they have been released in the US. I thought I saw Padre carded on eBay before, but that may not have been in the US either.

Does anyone know if these have been released overseas and if they are coming to the US or why they were held back?

I just picked up Tokyo Mater with Oil Stains. On the back of the card, Padre was displayed amongst the “collect them all” quartet.

  2. I didn’t realize the El Materdors were hard to find. I’ll keep my eye out.

Heh – I saw loads of El Materdor at a toy shop in Dublin last week -picked up mine quick! That’s the only one I have seen so far from this Toon.

Padre is megasize 19. Where did you see him carded? There should be 2 4 packs but they may be cancelled.

    El Materdor Pack 1
    Padre
    El Materdor
    Matador McQueen
    Altar Boy Pitty

    El Materdor Pack 2
    Materdor w/o Hood
    Chuy
    Mia Seniorita
    Tia Seniorita

I’ll buy both, plus extra Chuy’s. Also, the last 2 cars in both 4 packs I listed are exclusives to the box set. I hope we can get them. I may or may not continue collecting. over the months I’ve lost intrest, mostly due to bad distribution.

    • I thought I saw one carded on eBay, but I am probably remembering incorrectly and even getting him confused with the one from Tokyo Mater.

I am the same way, losing interest over not being able to find any new Cars. This week though, I found the new Monster Truck Mater McQueen and Mater, and they are awesome.

Yeah, but, I want new characters. I’ll still collect even repaints, but it looks like Mattel is finding every way to rehash existing castings. Look back at SDCC 2010. It was a big bust. Even if you count Toons, it’s the weakest coverage by FAR. Look at Van San Tokyo Mater. I’ll bet if regular Van was never produced, we wouldn’t have seen this. I do want all 4 haulers. But, let’s play a game. If I could only have just 1 of the 4, guess which one would I pick.

In Europe I have seen El Matedor only, not Mcqueen.

Hi, I’m not sure exactly what a carded diecast is, but I do know they have El Materdor and Lightning McQueen(don’t remember his name in that story) diecast box set at the Disney Store for $14.50. I’m sure you can buy them online at disneystore.com too. However, they are 2 or 3 times the size of the normal size diecast cars. Hope this helps a little!

    • Sorry, this blog covers mostly the Cars movie diecast line from Mattel. So when I say “carded diecast”, I mean anything from that line packaged on a cardback. I’m aware the Disney line is out there, but because it is not in scale with the Mattel diecast, I haven’t given it much coverage. Thanks.

El Materdor Deluxe singles are were popping up in Canada lastweek. So far just El Materdor, but others are coming from overseas, shouldn’t be too long now till we see them in the US.

    • Good to know. Thanks. It’s kinda weird that UFO Mater and Monster Truck Mater diecast are available, but not El Materdor diecast which aired almost a year before.

      • Carlos says:

El Materdor is out in Canada, but should be here in the US soon. I would like Mattel to finish the first movie. But, I’m losing intrest.
