Sponsor Update: Cars for a Dollar

One of the sponsors here is a site I created called Cars for a Dollar. The site displays eBay listings for Cars toys that are currently listed at or under $1. You’d be surprised to find out that most Cars, including new ones, can be found for that price. Right now you can find 2,406 Cars toys listed there.

I recently made some changes to the site. The categories on the left side are now gone, replaced by hot linked keyword searches. You can now search for many more Cars characters right from the sidebar without any typing at all. Also, Mini Cars are now available on Cars for a Dollar.

Sponsors help keep the site running, so that’s why they are there. But I created this site because I hoped my visitors would find it useful. Please check it out if you haven’t already. Here is a list of most newer Cars that can be found on Cars for a Dollar. Thanks.

New Sponsor: Cars For a Dollar

I would like to announce today our first sponsor on Cars Toys Blog, Cars for a Dollar. Cars for a Dollar is a pretty simple site in that all it does is search eBay for Cars toys currently priced at or under $1 and displays them with soonest ending items first. You can also search these results by keyword or by category from the category links on the side.

I think Cars For a Dollar is a really valuable resource for parents and collectors of Cars in that it will allow you to build your collections for cheap, or find those extras you missed because you had a limited budget. We’re interested in knowing what you think about the site, so feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below.

Here are some sample searches for you to try out, just to see how cool Cars for a Dollar really is.

New Cars 3 Packs Found

I just heard a report about 3 new Cars 3 packs being found at retail right now. The interesting thing is that 2 of these 3 packs each have a new version of an existing character in them. The first one is Lightning McQueen’s Crew with Lightning McQueen, Lightning Ramone and Flo. Lighting McQueen and Flo are repacks, and Lightning Ramone is a repaint. Ramone’s new paint job in this version is red with a lightning bolt on the side.

The second one is the Dirt Track gift pack with Cactus Lightning McQueen, Sheriff and Dirt Track Doc Hudson. Sheriff and Cactus McQueen are repacks although Cactus McQueen was previously only available at Wal-Mart. The Doc Hudson is a repaint with red rims from the scene in the movie where he races McQueen. The is the first time Doc Hudson has red rims. The previous Hudson with red rims was the Hudson Hornet.

The third 3 pack is the Piston Cup gift pack with Lightning McQueen, Charlie Checker and The King. McQueen and The King are reissues, but Charlie Checker was previously only available at Wal-Mart as “Piston Cup Pace Car.” Also, there appears to be a difference between the 3 pack version of Charlie Checker and the Wal-Mart exlcusive version, in that the Wal-Mart exclusive version has red tail lights and the 3 pack version has yellow tail lights.

So to recap, these have only 2 repainted Cars not available anywhere else. Based on that, I’m not sure how many collectors these will appeal to, other than completists. They are being found at Wal-Mart, Toys R Us and KB so far. Here is an image of all three 3 packs.

Update: Apparently there is a fourth 3 pack that is due to be out, but is not showing up yet. This one is called the Dinoco Dream gift pack and includes Gold Mia & Tia and Bling Bling Lightning McQueen. Here is an image below. You can see that Dinoco McQueen is shown, but the packaging says Bling Bling Lightning McQueen.

Update 2 - 1/10/08: The Dinoco Dream gift pack with Gold Mia & Tia and Bling Bling McQueen is now starting to show up on eBay, which means you should be able to find them at retail soon.
