Tonight, we have another Cars prototype mock up. You are looking at Sarge’s SUV Bootcamp. Again note the unpainted prototype Cars.

Here we have what looks like the original Sarge (non-lenticular) along with TJ and 3 SUV’s, Frank Pinkerton, Murphy and the Light Green SUV. TJ was originally released as a Walmart exclusive and was much smaller. Here TJ is mega sized to be more in scale to the movie.

Not much else is known at this point. I will update once I have more information of course. You may remember them from the scene shown here.

A couple of weeks ago, I talked about the special Holiday Cars coming this Christmas, called Mater Saves Christmas. We now have an early image of a mock up of this box set above. Noticed the unfinished Cars. These will be available as a set or as singles. There will be six Cars available in the series, Christmas McQueen, Holiday Ramone, Holiday Sally, Holiday Sheriff, Reindeer Mater and Santa Doc.

There is also a story book that will be available, also called “Mater Saves Christmas.” Here it is on Amazon. It says it will be available on September 8, 2009. A little early for Christmas, but hey, who’s complaining?

Mater's Tall Tales: Rescue Squad Mater 4 Packs

If you’ve been following along, you may have noticed, there are a lot of diecast Cars coming this Fall. One of the series we will be seeing a lot of is from Mater’s Tall Tales. All of what we have seen so far has been from Rescue Squad Mater and Mater the Greater.

Here are some new pictures of 2 boxsets coming from Rescue Squad Mater.

I don’t know much about these at this point, My guess is that these will probably only be available in the boxsets and not as singles, but if more show up from Rescue Squad Mater they will be released as singles. Of course, it is possible that there could be additional boxsets coming and none of these will be released as singles.

Cars Crew Chiefs and Pittys Box Sets Target Exclusives

Coming this Fall, there will be more box sets although this time they will be exclusive to Target. Get ready for the Crew Chiefs and Pittys Box Sets. Each box set will come with 1 crew chief and 2 pittys. There are 3 box sets to start, Chick Hicks, Leak Less and Dinoco.

Leak Less Crew Chief, Earl Filter, was previously released as part of a 3 pack, but this is the first release of Dinoco and Chick Hicks Crew Chief. Both were previewed early last year during Toy Fair 2008. Why did they wait so long to release these? Who knows, so be glad we are finally getting them. Hopefully, both Pittys won’t be identical within each set.

By the way, what is with the Target exclusives this Fall? They have the Final Lap Cars, the Haulers box sets, Movie Moments, these 3 packs and also the story tellers. That’s quite a bit of Target exclusive Cars, wouldn’t you say?

Cars Piston Cup Racers 4 Packs Coming This Year

Coming this holiday season are 3 new Piston Cup Racer 4 packs. These will not be exclusive. Notice that McQueen is included in all 3. They’re not super exciting as most are re-releases, but it may be a chance for some to complete their collection.

The theory is that the Piston Cup Racers only appeal to collectors and not children who are only interested in the characters who have significant roles in the movie. That’s why the Piston Cup Racers are more likely to be included in box sets, 3 packs, 4 packs and exclusive sets.

That way they don’t waste case space with these Cars. Plus it gives those who don’t nornally collect the chance to get many at once. Here is the complete list of Piston Cup 4 packs.

Cars Haulers Case F, Nitroade Hauler Coming Soon

Here comes the next wave of Cars Haulers. The only new Hauler in this case is Nitroade which is 2 per case.

The reason why the haulers take longer to show up at mass market retailers is that Mattel ships them to direct import retailers first. Mass market retailers usually don’t want to spare the extra expense and wait until they show up in the Mattel warehouse.

These are scheduled to ship to direct import retailers in August, and mass market retailers after that. Here is the full case assortment for Haulers case F.
