Mater’s Tall Tales part 2 will be here soon. The next “toon” in the series is “Unidentified Flying Mater.” Sources indicate it will air on Disney XD on November 25th. Information can be wrong so don’t throw too many rocks at me if it doesn’t happen.
One thing that is happening though is the next Mater’s Tall Tales storybook, Heavy Metal Mater and Other Tall Tales. It is up for pre-order on Amazon right now (link) to be released on July 13, 2010. Just like the first one, there are 3 stories. Tokyo Mater is included, as well as Unidentified Flying Mater and the title story, “Heavy Metal Mater.” Here is the description.
Mater is up to his old tricks again, with three new tall tales in one fantastic hardcover storybook for boys ages 3 to 7! Mater tells Lightning McQueen how he started a heavy metal band, became a hot-rod racer in Tokyo, and had a close encounter with a UFO! Will there be toys? Do I really need to ask that question? You can bet there will be toys. In fact, toys from Tokyo Mater are already planned, so the other 2 shouldn’t be far behind.

Many of you, including myself, may have already noticed these showing up now. But the next wave of Story Tellers is now showing up at Target stores across the US. The Story Teller series is based on a Cars storybook that was released to go along with the toys last year.

The series continues with Mater’s Cousins and the Motorama Girls. There are 6 new Cars in all, including Mater’s Cousins which are Jud, Cletus and Buford and the Motorama Girls, which are Sheila, Laverne and Rhonda.

The first Story Tellers showed up last year during the holiday season. These are also currently being stocked at Targets, in the single and 3 packs. These are exclusive to Target stores, but the Mater Saves Christmas Story Tellers are not.
See the previous post for more information on the Story Tellers. You may also remember the pic of Bubba from that post. No word on when he is coming yet. But Bubba will be mega sized though, so that may put a twist on trying to get him into the Story Tellers line.

The Mater Saves Christmas Story Tellers series is now hitting retail stores in time for the holiday season. I think these are a Target exclusive since they are part of the Story Tellers line. Targets are doing a holiday reset right now, so they should be out at your store soon, if not already.
Mater Saves Christmas Gift Pack
The gift pack is showing up first, and the boxset contains an exclusive Mater. The Mater is only available in the gift pack and not as a single. So I’m not really sure why anyone would buy the singles, unless you just don’t want Mater. But who wants Mater Saves Christmas without Mater? This seems like another Mattel ploy to get more money out of collectors.

Chase King with Piston Cup
Look My Eyes Change case D is now showing up at retail. The chase Car is The King with Piston Cup. I believe this completes the Piston Cup trilogy. Is there anything left to say about the lenticular Cars? No? Didn’t think so.

You may have noticed a few new Cars books showing up at retail lately. Mater’s Tall Tales is indeed a book version of the Cars Toons Mater’s Tall Tales animated shorts that debuted last year. I haven’t yet seen it in person, but I have heard that it is out there. It’s available on Amazon here.

Also now showing up is Mater Saves Christmas. I found it at Target this week. It’s also getting Christmas Cars based on the book. Mater saves Christmas is also available on Amazon here. The book itself is pretty good. And although only 6 Cars have been shown so far, there are even more in the book that could be made.

We finally have some more details on the Gold Ransburg McQueen that we saw a few months back. The Ultimate Cars Gift Pack being released this holiday season contains both the DVD and Blu-Ray versions of the Cars movie, along with an exclusive Gold Ransburg Lightning McQueen and Red Ransburg Rescue Squad Mater. The Red Ransburg Rescue Squad Mater would appear to be the same one from this years San Diego exclusive.
This is set to be available at Best Buy on Nov. 10 for $44.99. You can also pre-order this now on Amazon for $34.99.

This may be old news to some, but you should be finding the Gil hauler at retail pretty easily now. Gil has been showing up online for a few weeks or so, but I didn’t see it on the shelves until last week. With case G, you will also find Nitroade and Trunk Fresh hauler.

I posted about the Target Exclusive Cars Crew Team Box Sets a few months ago. Word is that there is an official release date for these of October 11, 2009 (same as the Final Lap Cars.) It looks like some of these are getting out early on eBay. Here is the checklist.

Each box set has a crew chief and 3 pittys. Strange that there is no Rust-Eze crew. Maybe because there were different Rust-Eze teams? We are finally getting the Dinoco and HTB crew chiefs that were first shown in early 2008, I believe. Here is a photo gallery. Here’s the scene from the movie.
And here are the toys.
I wasn’t aware, but it appears this is a Toys R Us exclusive. Here is the list of characters: TJ, Murphy, Charlie Cargo, Frank Pinkerton and Sarge. TJ is much bigger than the previous Walmart exclusive version. Compare him with Sarge to get an idea of scale.
So be on the lookout for these at Toys R Us. You can find some already on eBay here.
